Distance to Devotion: The Journey at ICF Iringa Christian Fellowship

What Went First about ICF

So this is about the ICF, Iringa Christian Fellowship, I shared over 3 weeks ago. About a month ago, I came and shared about one of the best places for Christians and travellers to church while in Iringa. The place is the best because it is international and can help you as a traveller meet many people in the same walk of life both natives and foreigners. The church has members from over 10 nationalities from Sweden to Uganda and many others from western and central Europe.

Not Shared in the ICF, Iringa Christian Fellowship Post

What I didn’t tell you then was this: I have been to Iringa for over a year for this internship program. After months of looking for a place of fellowship, I decided to quit and do what I do when I am myself: attend students overnight once in a while, show up in the church next to where I live, and never show up again.

No excuse, child of God. If you believe so, you need a place of fellowship, gathering with fellow believers. What happened was that I was supposed to be in Iringa for at most three months before I moved to the next region. Of course, this didn’t happen because of both things within and outside my capacity. Either way, I was stuck in Iringa and had to get used to the idea that I would be longer than I hoped.

This was when I decided and begin writing about the tourism information of the attractions found in Iringa and the Southern Regions. And that was when I was pushed to write about places of worship and yes, the research began.

After some days online, I found the church, Iringa Christian Fellowship, advertised on all the events on the Iringa webpage. Yes, next to a Friday Club day, with ladies free. So here I was. The next service was like 2 weeks away. Services are conducted every first and third Sunday of the month. So, it looks like I found the ad a day after the previous service.

What happened was; that I could not write or recommend something I hadn’t experienced. When it comes to worship and faith, I need to know I am the vessel I am in the hands of the creator. So, I waited for those 2 weeks and attended the service.

Going to ICF

The day I attended the service, was interesting. Before going to church, I contemplated a lot, but I went.
I was early or the service was late.

  • So, getting to the door, here comes this foreign lady (Tinna) welcoming me to the service, asking me my name and showing me a palace to sit in. There I met one of the members and we began speaking about the what-what of the church.
  • Another intersting thing was, that it was the day of the communion, I don’t remember the last time I had communication. But that week, and the week before, I had listened to this service about the importance of communion. And the day I got to church, there it was in front of me.
  • Another funny fact, it reminded me of the service I had visiting abroad, in Sweden the first time in 2017. There was a table with coffee and snacks for after services when people get together and just get to know each other. And that, I missed that kind of fellowship. And here I was.

With everything that happened and I experienced, I will tell you one thing.

I was seeking a church to recommend but God was bringing me back to Church.
And that was the best and most powerful recommendation there can ever be.
In the walk and journey, the focus and goal was to write to others about a place of worship. But, God was placing me into a home I longed to belong and serve.

My Lesson to going to the ICF Iringa Christian Fellowship

  • To me, this church, this journey, God placing me into this house, is a testimony. I wasn’t expecting much, but I received so much more.

So, if you happen to be in Iringa, come join us at the ICF and fellowship with us. It is an interdenominational church with over 10 nationalities and people from all walks of life and life journeys. We believe Christ is the Lord God and Saviour, He came, lived, died, resurrected and will come again soon. And yes, we are born of God in Christ and can’t wait to be with Him.

I have made friends here. Yes, had a communion and anchored myself in my walk with the Spirit of God. Love. Joy. Peace. Kindness. Goodness. Self-control. Gentleness. Faithfulness. He, god has been reviving them in abundance within me. I love God. Jesus is Lord. The Holy Spirit, my Life, your beloved is here, back and getting you. Wow!

I have met people whose journeys have been a reminder and testimony of who God is and can make happen.

I have met people with the best gifts God has put in humble vessels that you can never imagine meeting them. I have also met fellows with lives and relationships only God can make possible through the love He is in His mightiness.

I have met people honouring God through different services and talents. And it is just amazing.

I dare say, I was a wanderer but now I have a home in Christ and a place to fellowship with His loving children.

Hope you learnt a thing or two. Here is the link to the next post. Stay Well!.
