Joy ~ In little things, like children

Many things bring me joy! I love spending time outdoors, laughing, and making memories together with family and friends. I find it in reading, learning new things, and exploring the world. Also, I found out that I love travelling, it just makes me curious and eager. I love seeing the plane in the sky, always wondering what the people left and dreams, visions, people and relations that are going to be formed on the other side of the journey or route. Exciting!

There is more. I love it when I can be of any help to anyone and anything. When I can help others, I feel content. I feel encouraged and strengthened. You can say because I do that rarely. But doing it often has taught me how amazing it is when you serve. It makes you be, knowing you did not let it pass by. It always reminds me of how we are all related and God is the centre.

That kind of a relationship with God. Him being the source of my joy and peace. Him being the source, cause, reason and goal of my sharing ~ it just makes one alive. Feel alive.

What brings you joy?

Many things can bring you in the state of joy. Today, we’re going to discover not just one, not two, but FIVE different types that will light up your heart like a fireworks display!

1. Pure Delight in God’s Word 📖💖

Our first type of joy is like unwrapping the coolest surprise ever! Imagine finding joy in reading the Bible and discovering the incredible love story God has written just for you. Psalms 19:8 says The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. Going through the Bible, like a love story should always and will always give you peace in what the Lord has in store for you.

    giving light to the eyes

Psalmist

This type of joy is often unexpected and comes when we least expect it. It’s one from knowing that we are loved by God and that He has a plan for our lives. The joy of being forgiven for our sins and being made new in Christ. It’s in the gladness of knowing that we have eternal life and that we will one day be with Jesus in heaven.

This type of joy is not dependent on our circumstances. It doesn’t matter what is going on in our lives, we can always find joy in the Lord. He is our source of joy, and He never fails to provide it.

**Example:** When you read a verse that speaks right to your soul, it always feels like God is giving you a big, warm hug.

If you are looking for a deeper, more satisfying joy in your life, I encourage you to open your Bible and start reading. There are so many things yet to be discovered. Open the book and discover the incredible love story that God has written just for you. Let His Word fill your heart with joy and peace.

2. Celebration Joy 🎉

Joy is a reason to celebrate and we celebrate because we are joyful! It’s the joy of celebrating victories and blessings with God. Zephaniah 3:17 cheers us on, “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love, he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

When you experience God’s joy, it’s like a party that never ends. It’s a deep, abiding sense of happiness and contentment that comes from knowing that we are loved and accepted by God. This joy is not dependent on our circumstances, but it flows from our relationship with the Lord.

Zephaniah 3:17 tells us that God takes great delight in us. He loves us unconditionally and rejoices over us with singing. When we experience this kind of love, it fills us with joy and overflows into our lives.

**Example:** When you see a friend baptized or witness a miracle, it feels like heaven itself is throwing a party! When God saves you from something, an accident heals you or pulls you through something you thought was hard. When God just give you that kind of sleep at night you wake up excited, afresh and expectant of what’s ahead. And you realise, He is. It is just beautiful.

If you are looking for a deeper sense of joy in your life, I encourage you to spend time in God’s Word and in prayer. As you get to know Him better, you will come to understand His love for you and you will experience His joy in a new and profound way.

3. Gratitude Joy 🙏🌼

The joy of the Lord is a deep, abiding joy that comes from knowing that you are loved by God and that He has a good plan for your life. It is a joy that is not dependent on circumstances but on the character of who God is. When you have the joy of the Lord, you can face anything that comes your way with confidence and peace.

When you are thankful for all the amazing things God has done, your heart overflows with joy. You can’t help but smile when you think about all the ways God has blessed you. You are grateful for His love, His grace, His mercy, His provision, and His protection. Grateful you are for all the good things He has done in your life, and you are confident that He will continue to do great things in the future. And it is in holding onto this hope, faith and trust, that God keeps revealing Himself to us.

Philippians 4:4 reminds us, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” This is a command from God. He wants us to be joyful, even in the midst of difficult circumstances. When we rejoice in the Lord, we are declaring our trust in Him and our confidence in His goodness. We are also setting ourselves up to receive more of His joy.
