Faith of Different Extraordinary Women of the Bible

1st November of 2023

The Faith of Women. We all have had those moments in life where we just knew, that without faith and trust in God, we ain’t gonna make it to the other end. It might have been because of a task, project health situation, family issue, unforeseen event, death of a loved one, parent, relative or friend, loss of job, bankruptcy 0r sickness.

As much as we felt alone in the fight BUT still chose to turn to God, trusting with everything we are that God can and will surely come through in us and with us through the fire. We knew we were not alone. There were other women and men who chose to do the same in the Bible that we can learn from. The Bible’s writing of God and the story of man’s salvation, has also written of how faithful God has been to all who reached out to Him and obediently, trusted him.

In the Bible, women lived their faith with resilience, courage, and unwavering trust in God when they chose to follow and trust in Him as the Living One. Here we gonna learn of women who lived and have impacted more women’s lives through faith since the beginning of life. Let us try to learn from these women with faith in whom Paul wrote to the Hebrews, 11:6, And without faith, it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. But, they lived and pleased God.

These women, faith and us

These women did it and trusted God through it all and were graced with what they were seeking God or Jesus for: children; life (saved); loved ones’ resurrection; health and wellbeing and above all favour and proven faith which increased their faith even more. What more do we need at the end of a miracle but the increased and anchored faith in the one who performed the miracle? That He is dependable, caring, and mostly GOD.

Today as well, as we generally learn of what these women lived their faith, let us hold in mind that the goal of miracles is to empower that Word of Faith that we carry in us, that He is faithful, living and able to do it all for His Name and when we trust in Him, HE surely answers and as He is God. So, let us live to honour Him as One.

As we journey through their stories daily, let us remember that there is nothing God has not done yet. He has done it before in the times of laws through His chosen one and prophets; in the times of Jesus through miracles that boosted faith and increased dependence on Him and mostly NOW that He is walking and living in his children as the Holy Spirit.

I believe with your testimony of how God moved for and through you and changed, did something and sustained your life that you are reading this post now, let us share through comments and strengthen each other by trusting in Him in Jesus’ Name Amen. 🙂

The Old Testament Women’s Faith

1. Sarah: The Mother of Nations (Genesis 18:9-15)

The Story of Sarah – a barren woman but proclaimed as mother of nations, very old, wife, insecure (I believe), trusting, liar (yap!).

Faith – Sarah laughing after hearing the good news

As an old woman who is past the bearing age, I believe Sarah had a lot going on her mind day in and out. That, even when God visited her and her husband, she still couldn’t hold it in and thought, how can it happen and laughed. Sarah, as a wife, is considered of faith because she still held onto the WORD and got together with her husband and thus a child in the same season, the next year.

Fascinating how she denied it when she was asked if she laughed.

Despite the laughable impossibility of bearing a child in her old age, Sarah trusted God’s promise thus paving the way for the birth of Isaac. In Genesis 18:9-15, we witness the divine proclamation that Sarah, in her incredulity, receives with laughter. Yet, it is precisely this laughter that echoes through generations, a testament to the transformative power of faith as she says testifying in how the LORD has given her laughter.

Is there anything too difficult for the LORD?

God

Sarah’s Faith

Assuredly, Sarah’s faith is not in that she was not that she did not believe in God. She did, but before He came and confirmed the Word given to Abraham in Genesis 12, had already given Abraham Hagai and Ishmael was already born. So, it is not like she had not heard of the promise, being human she must have worried and thought, that God had surely promised so as long as it was Abraham’s child, it wouldn’t matter.

But God’s promise was to be fulfilled through both Abraham and Sarah, who were called and had their names and positions changed to be parents of nations.

So as we remind ourselves of Sarah, what do you remember that God promised you? What is the one thing that you know that it is laughter even hearing about? That you know that personally, it will take God to move for it to be or become? But with doubt, you have been trying and ceasing, repeatedly? As God said to Abraham, Is anything too difficult for the LORD? Surely, there is nothing. It is not about how old or young we are. But it is about how long we choose to trust the LORD for it faithfully and obediently. It is a choice.

A year. Two. A day. A morning. What the Lord says, do it. Obedience, trust and faith are an invitation for the glory, his power to make possible what we thought was impossible.

Final Word

This is a story of faith, a reminder of how mighty, faithful and loving our Father is. Let us continue tomorrow and learn, relearn and remind ourselves of how this journey is possible. That all is possible through Him who loves us. And as in Romans 8: 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. Through tears, courage, tenacity, laughter and trust, we know and are sure of one thing, all is well in the end.
