Meteorites, Forests, and the Great Highway!

Songwe is one of Tanzania’s newest regions. It offers travelers a fresh, cool frontier for adventure. It sits right on the border with Zambia and Malawi. The region’s greatest attraction is the giant Mbozi Meteorite (known locally as Kimondo). This massive space rock weighs tons and sits right near the town of Vwawa. It is a stunning, unique sight. Songwe also protects large forest reserves.

These include Kaisumbe Forest and Tiru Forest. They provide beautiful, quiet spots for nature walks and birding. Songwe is a major transit point.

The main Tanzam Highway passes right through it. This makes it an essential connection point for crossing Southern Africa. It offers quiet nature, amazing history, and a piece of space for your journey.
